Recipes: Homemade pizza dough

This quick and easy homemade pizza dough is faster when made by hand rather than a food processor. You can certainly use a processor if you choose, but there's really no need as you'll just end up having to clean it and put it all back. This pizza dough recipe is very uncomplicated so there's less work and a lot less cleanup.

There was a time when my bread maker and food processor were the most used appliances in my kitchen. Of course I still use them but not nearly as much since discovering the internet. There are ways and methods being shared over the internet by which one can create delicious breads and other things without all the fuss and bother. And they're just as good!

Homemade pizza dough recipe

- 3 & 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 & 1/2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 teaspoon of dry yeast
- 1 cup of water (warm)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt

Stir the honey, salt, and sugar into the warm water then add the yeast and let it stand for about eight to ten minutes. Add the olive oil and slowly mix as you add the flour until the dough is nice and firm. On a floured surface, knead the dough until it feels nice and smooth.

If it's too sticky, it needs a little more flour. If it's not smooth and spongy, it needs a little more water. And when I say, "a little," I mean just a dusting of flour or a few drops of water. The ball of dough needs to be smooth and spongy.

Pour the olive oil into a bowl, roll the dough in it and coat it real good then cover it with cheese cloth, or something light, for one hour. Punch it down, cover it and let it sit another hour.

On a floured surface, stretch it out then roll it into a quarter inch pie shape. Pierce the dough with a knife or fork in a couple of places for better heat distribution while baking then pile on your sauce and toppings. Bake at 375 degrees for twenty-five to thirty minutes.

There you have it. It's quick, it's easy, and it's delicious. Try my perfect homemade pizza dough. It's not brain surgery and you don't have to be a gourmet to make it. My daughter can mess up a frozen pizza, yet she makes my homemade pizza dough all the time.

Most of the work is simply mixing the ingredients, letting it stand then building your pizza. Try it once and I guarantee, you'll never go back to frozen pizza dough.
