Cases of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS are popping up everywhere in massive numbers. Often those who suffer from allergies, fibromyalgia and/or irritable bowel syndrome are victims of CFS, as well. Is it an allergic reaction to our environment, or food, some other type of allergy or reaction, perhaps it’s related to endocrine disorders or is it something else? We have yet to discover exactly what it is or how to wipe it out, yet it has proven to be horribly disabling.
There are currently no tests for the diagnosis of CFS.
If you’ve tried traditional treatments and they have failed, you may find that there are some alternative medicine treatment options for CFS that can certainly help you to live with this disease and may even reverse some of it’s effects.
CFS affects the brain and multiple-body symptoms. Symptoms are, short-term memory loss, inability to rest and sleep, incapacitating fatigue and exhaustion, tenderness in the lymph nodes, sore throats, new types of headaches, pain in multiple joints with swelling or redness. The pain and agony only increases with exercise and exertion. Other symptoms include: nausea, diarrhea, night sweats, brain fogginess, dizziness, coughs, allergies, visual disturbances, and irregular heartbeat, palpitations and jaw pain. Often the exhaustion experienced can be disabling and many with CFS cannot get relief even from rest.
Many of these symptoms are actually the same as Endocrine disorders. In fact, some people believe that it is connected to the Endocrine system’s disorders and a number of articles and books have been written with this in mind, so if you suspect CFS, you may want to shorten your time spent at the doctor’s office getting a diagnosis and just see an Endocrinologist.
Since many of these symptoms are also the same as those of other disorders and diseases; you will want your doctor to rule out any that he/she can to ensure a correct diagnosis.
CFS is more common in women than in men and commonly affects people in their thirties. It can be caused by immune dysfunction, hormone imbalances and viral infections. Fortunately, there are many holistic and alternative treatments for CFS which can be of assistance in combating this miserable malady.
Often people with CFS have allergies or sensitivities to prescription and OTC medications, so alternative treatments are often considered.
