With so many more diseases and varieties of disease than ever in the history of humanity, one has to wonder about whether or not what we are putting into our bodies is actually helping or hurting us. When you begin to research the many different types of food processes that are out there, you begin to see a pattern in our way of eating and our deteriorating health. We pay dearly for convenience today. We shouldn't have to.
Processed foods are any foods that are dried, boxed, frozen, dehydrated, canned or aseptically processed. "Aseptically" means a process by which foods are processed more sterile, without preservatives in order allow them to keep for longer periods of time. It's touted as "sterile" because aseptic processing allows for less chance of contamination.
The first step is to put the formulated foods through extreme heat. Second, packaging material is fed into a machine where it gets a sterilizing, hydrogen peroxide bath. The hydrogen peroxide is removed from the packaging with hot air or pressure rollers before it is formed into a tube for filling. It's filled, shaped and sealed immediately to ensure sterility.
While it allows food to retain more nutrition and flavor, the packaging is usually made of plastics or aluminum, which in themselves are hazards. Plastics leach carcinogens into our foods while aluminum is responsible for diseases like the dementias, which belong to Alzheimer's disease.
Even with aseptic processing and packaging processed foods can have botulism and become contaminated in other ways. If the processes and equipment are not completely sterile or aren't processed for the proper shelf life, aseptic processing is just as dangerous.
Processing food gives it color, enhanced flavor, hides odors, softens, bleaches, sweetens and preserves it. Just because it looks good and fresh, doesn't mean that it is. Most processed foods can contain over 6,000 chemicals and cancer-causing carcinogens!
The research findings are frightening! "There are over six thousand chemicals that are used in our food." http://www.bodyecology.com/07/10/18/hidden_dangers_o f_processed_foods.php.
The FDA does nothing to help here, they allow many toxins and literal poisons to be used in our food processing. Many metals and toxins leach into our food while it's being stored on the grocery shelves. We eat these and wonder why one of these diseases is "Heavy Metal Poisoning". It's insane what the industry will pull in order to preserve our food a little longer or enhance
