What can be said about the relationship between former Russian born tennis player turned model Anna Kournikova and latin pop sensation Enrique Iglesias? The first word that comes to mind is "done" but is that accurate? For several years the pair has been a hot button couple but as recently as June of 2008 Iglesias has stated they are separated.

While the timeline varies it is generally believed Kournikova and Iglesias began dating sometime around late 2001 to early 2002 when Anna appeared in his music video "Escape." It is a bit touchy as Anna was married to NHL star Sergei Federov at the time, but who says that should keep a gal from having dating life? By the time Kournikova finalized he divorce the pair was inseperable and many thought the youngsters were bound to walk the aisle eventually. The years passed as did Anna's professional tennis career while Enrique watched his star in the music world continue rise. Anna seemed to harbor no resentment as her modeling career continued to flourish and the pair was named the hottest sports couple on an ESPN poll.

The pair stuck by each other but 2007 is when things get fuzzy. Enrique stated he never had any intention of marrying Anna and no deseire to begin a family which is something Anna was said to want. Oddly enough by April 2008 it would seem he changed his mind and he stated he asked Anna to marry him numerous times and it was she whoe refused to get hitched. He went on to say, "I always try, but she pays me no attention." Even odder though is at that point he makes reference to their three year relationship rather than the publicly documented five year soiree they have been followed on every step of the way. Now according to some sources it is Anna taking the tough stance of never getting married.

Now it continues to get even stranger. In June of 2008 Iglesias told the Daily Star they wed last year and are now legally separated. In other sources he states she has left him, not the other way around, but he is now single and happy. Kournikova issues no comment either way but her agents roundly deny she has ever wed Iglesias and even issued a challenge for him to prove there ever was a wedding. Who in the world knows the truth? More importantly who cares?

The only thing we know for sure is that a woman rated one of the twenty five greatest flops in sports of the past quarter century and the worlds most overrated athlete who made a name for herself as a swimsuit model began dating the son of world famous crooner Jose Iglesias sometime around 2002 and that they say they are currntly not together. Everything in between has been nothing but rumors and innuendo of he said she said of the worst kind. Some weeks they are together, others they are apart and apparently they may or may not be married right now. The fact is none of us really know and as they can't seem to agree on it why should we care?
