The is no point in being economical with the truth. Cristiano Ronaldo Dos Santos Aveiro is the best soccer player on planet earth at the moment. Anybody that watches the English Premier league will tell you this. But in case you are not convinced, may I give you the reasons in clear and unambiguous terms.

1)Goal Scoring Ability:
In the just concluded Premier League season, Cristiano Ronald scored an incredible 42 goals in all competitions. He is the top scorer in England, the top scorer in all European leagues and top scorer in the UEFA Champions League.

2)Dribbling Skills:
Renaldo's dribbling skills are simply out of this world. One on one, Ronaldo will dribble any defender in any football league in the world. Ask Michael Essien and Ashley Cole of Chelsea for details!

3)Pace:
Another asset that Ronaldo has is his incredible pace on the ball. Soccer analysts claim that it takes Ronaldo just 48 seconds to get to the opponents' penalty area after a corner kick in the Manchester united half of the field.

4)Two Footed Ability:
Ronaldo is a winger. But unlike most wingers who can play either on the left wing or right wing, Ronaldo is equally adept playing at both wings. This is a great asset to have as it gives him an incredible flexibility.

5)Good In The Air
At six foot one, Ronaldo has the height to challenge for aerial balls. Naturally, he has also scored a number of goals with his head. His goal against Chelsea in the Champions League final was a clear testament to his ability in the air.

6)Super sub value:
Ronaldo can start the match and deliver the goods. He can also sit on the bench and come in as a second half substitute. In the latter case, he has a super sub value as he can change the match within minutes of entering the pitch.

7)Penalty Taker:
Forget the missed penalty kicks in Barcelona and Moscow. Ronald is still the official penalty taker for Manchester united and has scored a large number of crucial penalty kicks for his club.

8)Goal Assists:
Apart from banging in the goals with an amazing regularity, Cristiano Ronaldo is also a goal provider. He can bring the vital cross or he simply lays on the final pass for his team mates to score the goals.

9)Leadership:
At just 23 years of age, Ronaldo has immense leadership potential. For this reason, he has been named Vice-Captain of the Portuguese National team by the coach Luis Felipe Scolari.

10)Constant Improvement
Some players have ups and downs in their foot balling career but not Ronaldo. Over the years he has constantly improved every aspect of his game. Check out the statistics; every year, he simply scores more goals than he did the previous year.

I have to admit that I am a dyed-in-the-wool fan of Manchester United but that does not make me a dishonest or a biased individual Cristiano Ronaldo is the best soccer player in the world right now. This is a fact that even fans of Arsenal and Chelsea will readily admit to.

So,as you clearly see from the foregoing, there simply isn't any player in the horizon for this year's FIFA World Footballer of the year except the inimitable Cristiano Ronaldo.
