Poetry: Soul mates

by Chuck Maddock

Soul Mates

His name Samuel Jason Esquire
A man Famed in ink, quite distinct
Never known to ever expire
An immortal many seem to think

His written word often heard
Repeated by sages through the ages
His poems renowned by all around
His epic sagas bound in history's pages

In curious fate my soul mate
How we met, in my mind is not set
Shedding tears through our fears
His of boredom, mine of passing years

Our friendship firmly set, but yet
A distance remained from what we gained
More of a father and a vary young son
Who's time is short by eternity's run

Never very far, for mates we are
In my time, written in rhyme
I will try to imply
Our bonding real and the way I feel
