Spirit-rescue or spirit-release is the ultimate act of compassion. To be a beacon for the earthbound, to open the door for them to cross over is the embodiment of our humanness. Anyone can perform this act, anyone with an open mind and belief beyond this plane of existence. All over the world, we communicate with spirit everyday. Whether we believe in a God or not, we all pray to some higher power for everything from getting us to work on time to keeping us safe and alive. Spirit is everywhere, and we touch it everyday.

Ghosts on the other hand, earth-bound spirits, now that's a whole other issue.

Not everyone becomes a ghost. Those that have crossed over can communicate with us in dreams, showing up in a party scene, or the guy at the deli counter. Suddenly you're talking to your High School sweetheart who died years ago. We want to believe that the dead will have some kind of profound insight, a "message" from beyond. The reality is, most of the time they are just stopping by to say hello, I'm okay, and I love you. Love is the only motivation for this kind of communication. Everyone can have this kind of experience, and it will probably happen to everyone at least once in their lifetime. Communicating with a ghost can be troublesome, frightening and not everyone can do it. Ghosts are discarnate beings. That is, they inhabit the same plane of existence that we do (the 3rd dimension), only with out a body. They have not crossed over. They cannot talk because they don't have voices anymore, and most of them are confused and upset. They are the same people they were when they had a body. Some have accepted their status, and take advantage of things, becoming pranksters and bullying the living because they are jealous and angry. Some of them don't know they are dead. They go on, only seeing the life they knew or reliving the moments before their death. Other ghosts are fearful of judgment, based on years of religious conditioning. They might "see the light" upon dying, but reject it and run for fear of retribution. It is both my belief and my experience that God (what I recognize as Universal Consciousness or Source) is not judging these earthbound souls. Ghosts are not being punished, and earth is not purgatory. Because we have free will, many ghosts choose
