The night wore on and it was really getting cold outside as Nan huddled up in her blanket.
How much longer would it take before Todd would get here. She had better things to do then to wait until this man got here. Her husband was off working long hours and she just needed more company. The kids were dropped off at their grandmother's for the night.
This was it she told herself. Just one more night and then she would call it off. She couldn't stand that she was just going behind her husband's back doing the things that she did and to think that she had not yet got caught.
Todd was such a perfect man, something that her current husband was not. He was loving and caring, always taking her out on dates to any where of her choice and giving her expensive gifts. Taking her out on extravagant nights out to wonderful resteraunts. To places that not even her husband could afford.
Nan looked at her watch it was half past 6 and Todd should have been here already. She begin to worry, then her phone buzzed. It was Todd.
"Hello," breathed Nan into the phone. She couldn't contain herself her heart always skipped a beat when Todd came on the phone he always made her heart melt. Why couldn't her husband do that for her.
"Hi babe, I'm sorry I can't make it." He sighed and Nan could tell something was wrong.
"What is it, everything ok," she hoped everything was ok. She really needed him this time and if she were to go one more moment without this man she would burst and everything would be all over.
"Something came up, I'll call you tomorrow." He then hung up.
Nan stood in the middle of the street staring at the phone in her hand. This was somehting that Todd had never done. He never hung up on her briefly.
Nan crossed the street were she had parked her blue miata and hopped in and drove away. Thoughts begin to rush through her mind. What was up with Todd tonight, he seemed so rushed and out of place. She decided to brush it off and drove home.
"What do you mean, we have to seperate," Nan cried into the phone. "I need you Todd, I can't go through this. Yes I know I'm married."
"Look babe, this just isn't working. You're married and it isn't right."
"Well, you should have thought of that on the first night that you slept with me." Nan breathed into the phone or at least she thought she was breathing. Her heart felt like it was on fire and was about to burst out of her chest. Then the tears begin to stream down her face. "What do you want me to do, do you want me to leave him, because I will leave him. He doesn't make me happy, you do."
"Look Nan," Todd breathed, "I didn't mean to make you cry or anything, you should try to work things out with your husband and I met someone else. I'm sorry." And then just like yesterday he hung up on her.
Nan fell into her hands and begin to cry once more. She knew deep inside that Todd was lying to her and he had not met anyone else and that he was just using her.
The weeks wore on and Nan begin to worry, "This can't be." she cried at she looked at the stick in her hand.
Pregnant sign was staring right at her in the face. "Jack had a bisectamy." she whispered. They did that because they didn't want any more kids.
How could she be so stupid, she thought to herself, to sleep with a man that was not her husband and without protection. She knew that she wasn't thinking. What was she going to do. While she was pondering on that the door to the bathroom flung open and there she was face to face with her husband.
"Babe, are you pregnant." At that Nan held up the stick to confirm that she was. "Not possible..."
"We need to talk," whispered Nan as she threw the stick in the garbage.
