If the world had been a different place regarding race relations then there would never had been a need for affirmative action.
If affirmative action had not been implemented then minorities would not have had the opportunity to advance. It was fair that affirmative actions were given, nine out of ten minorities were worthy of the chance to excel. It may not seem fair to the people who feel that they were unfairly not allowed to advance so that a person of color or a woman could, but it was necessary.
There was a time when an educated person of color could not get the job that they had the credentials and the knowledge for, because they were not white or they were female.
Affirmative action evened the playing field whether white America liked it or not. Imagine having the education and not being able to get the job but someone who is white with just a high school education being your boss.
As a Black woman who grew up in the fifties and sixties and up to this present day, if affirmative action was not in place the world would be a much different and horrible place. There would not have been any advancement of my race or any other race that was not white. Even in these present days there is still racism, so I am completely for affirmative actions because it keeps people of color and women moving forward no matter how racist the world is.
Affirmative action is a fair and just action!
