Poetry: Pet humor

by Marsha Landers

Created on: August 06, 2008

As the white truck slowly pulls up the drive
The dogs are waiting, party of five.
Listening for the horn to blow,
The howling starts; sun, rain, sleet, or snow.

A siren approaches within earshot,
The howling begins from the whole lot.
The neighbors must wish we would move far away
Or at least give a promise not to take another stray.

Singing practice is lead by our son,
Directing as if there is a prize to be won.
Pretending to sing, the son starts the howls.
The dogs send matching sounds from their jowls.

I, personally, think we have a great choir.
Too bad, there is no way to sound proof fence wire.
What is pleasant to one may be pain for another.
To enjoy their music you must be a dog lover.
