My mind lays stretched before me
On a forgotten path
Leading myself neither here nor there
Just emptiness and black slate mar the path
I stir in the quicksand of forgotten dreams
And linger for a moment in the bliss of forgetfulness
Tis' not a grand way to live
Tis' really not a way to live at all
But it is my way, the way I have always known
the way that is truly mine
I cling tight to this existence fearing its extinction
Fighting the promise of a better life
Is this really all there is?
Is this really the way life is supposed to be?
How do you let go of decades of self destruction to clear a path to a different light?
The answer lies within on a stretch of broken promises
Lost in a sea of doubt and covered in wretched regrets
It is just waiting to be found
Unwrapped and set free
My mind lays stretched before me
On a forgotten path

But somehow less critical than when I first began.
