I know there are a lot of parents who struggle with the ups and downs of raising teenagers. And I do believe that teenagers get a bad rap from the media. Yes, there are teenagers who cause trouble, bored teens doing the wrong things in life just, to get a buzz. However there are many thoughtful, caring and productive teenagers out there. Many teenagers can manage the balance between working, study and socialising, without becoming overloaded, moody and irresponsible.
Teens that can hold intelligent conversation, ask the right questions, or make an appropriate joke, are a pleasure to talk too. How wonderful it is to have a teen like this! Teenagers are so spontaneous and they have a joy of life that can sometimes be lost on us adults. They bring such freshness to our soul. Those teens who can laugh at the world as well as themselves, who don't take life to seriously, can be a lot of fun, bringing laughter and joy to all those around them, lighting up the room as they walk in.
Yes; in raising teenagers there are struggles along the way, but if you can keep the balance, keep thing in perspective, all will be well in the long run. A teen that's been raised to believe in themselves, who's confident and who loves life, is a joy to watch. This kind of teen is able to take on challenges without the hang-ups or worry of failure. They're prepared to have a go at anything and will laugh at themselves if they get it wrong.
I think teenagers are some of the most wonderful people on earth. Many of them have a lot of responsibilities with work as well as school and added to that are the emotional turmoils that their bodies go through. But in spite of this, their zest for life, for impulse and joy is somewhat catching. They accept you just as you are, for the most part and encourage you to be more spontaneous than you ever thought you would be, or could be. Their silly antics and make for many a moments laughter.
Finding yourself with a teenager who's a contributing member of society, who will work honestly and who can cope with pressure, brings great satisfaction to a parent, knowing they've raised that teenager to be a thoughtful and caring person. Knowing our job is complete and well done, after all the years of wondering if we've done the right thing at the right moment, makes it all worth the effort. It is wonderful to have a teenager that you know you've raised right and given them the wisdom to make it in this world.
