Poetry: Unspoken thoughts

by Vicki Andis

Created on: August 06, 2008

I want to shake you, shake you until you listen to me
standing right in front of you, overlooked, invisible
I cry out for recognition, validation, and respect

Thoughts and emotions echo through my mind and soul
uncontrolled, in a seemingly endless tortuous dance
Screaming for attention, sinking in silent quicksand

You don't see me, I have no identity, alone I cry
tho' I yearn for confirmation of my sanity, I balk
The truth could be the abyss, the end of my misery

Unspoken thoughts frequent my subconscious, endlessly
upsurd, with no direction, I dare not give them voice
standing right in front of you, you don't see me.
