Magazine reviews: Better Homes and Gardens

Better Homes and Gardens Magazine Review

Better Homes and Gardens is one of the magazines I grew up with. It was in our home, and I even remember my grandmother reading it. I am now an avid reader and subscriber to it. It graces my coffee table on a monthly basis.

I love the variety of articles in each month's colorful issues. This no nonsense magazine offers everything from soup to nuts and everything in between, literally, every month.

The August issue I received had an article in it titled Northern Light. That article seemed to be written just for me. It was about simple upgrades in a dated Minnesota bungalow. I too, live in Minnesota. Also, I just recently moved from a 2 story home to a 2 bedroom apartment. I love my little two bedroom apartment. It's perfect for me and my semi retired husband. My apartment was built in the 70's, and hadn't had many upgrades made to it since it was built. The interior paneling was dark and somewhat drab. I got a lot of ideas on how to lighten and brighten my apartment from that article. The lighting and different fabric ideas I received were all within my budget too.

I especially like the magazine during the different holiday seasons throughout the year. Whether it's decorating a xmas tree in December, or coloring easter eggs in March, the decorating ideas and recipes are always fresh and new. They are ideas that can be used by the average American, but also can be used in a Hollywood style home, or a Trump Towers townhouse, if need be. I find they are adaptable to any household or lifestyle.

In addition to decorating ideas both for the inside and outdoors, the magazine has a variety of other articles. It deals with style and beauty issues, health, nutrition, and fitness, just to name a few.

I have the driest, thinnest hair of anyone I know. A recent issue dealth with products for my type of hair, as well as anyone who's dealing with sun damaged hair and dry skin which is very common in the heat of August. I felt the article was very informative in suggesting different products for these problems.

I like the fact that I don't have to buy two, three, or more magazines to get what I'm looking for as far as decorating and beauty tips, as well as some very delicious recipe ideas.

The editors and writers do a fantastic job, I feel. The articles are all very informative.
The photos and pictures are always very vivid and colorful, and very self explanatory.

Whether I'm looking for gardening tips, ideas on pet care, home improvement projects, or a new idea for preparing a delicious chicken dish, I know just where to look. My Better Homes and Gardens magazine is always right there on my coffee table, next to the family bible.
