Escaping Youth
A cacophony rings in my mind
Erupting like a chorus of angels
Pounding out mournful, hollow hymns,
Flapping timbres at my door.
Blaring discord haunts me,
Echoing through desolate tombs
Reeking of bitterness and folly,
Chastising my blundering youth.
Self-flagellation mocks my soul,
Berating indifference murmurs,
Fortune frowns at this child
Ensuring confidence withers.
Sanity prevails, catching me up,
Advancing blind and determined,
Riding the blast of angelic wings
Attacking my mind's emancipation.
