A GUIDE TO BUYING MUSIC BOXES

This is a buying guide essembling ideas about mustic boxes for special occations, Christmas and gift giving. I have yet to know of a home that has not ever had a music box. It does not matter if you are a man, women or child, the urge to open the music box lid to hear what melody it contains and what else it might hold.

Music boxes can be antiques, heirlooms, past down from generation to generation. They all have their own story that is passed along with it. Sweethearts give music boxes to show affection.

When you think of a music box, you think it is meant to hold jewelry, or love letters. But the original use of a music box is that it was a snuff box in the 19th century. So, don't hold back on buying a music box as a gift for a man. Just give him a little bit of history to go along with it.

Today music boxes come in all shapes and sizes with only your imagination to limit you. The themes that are used when deciding on what kind of music box to get is endless. Here are just a few of the unique ideas used to create these wonderul devices.

CHRISTMAS

Probably on of the most popular time of year to buy a music box because there are countless Christmas themes. You have numerous holiday songs to choose from, and music boxes ranging from Santa Claus, bobsleding, and the Nutcracker.

OTHER HOLIDAYS

No holiday is left out when choosing a music box. For Halloween, they are animated and are constructed into scenes like, graveyards and haunted houses. Witches, goblins, and ghosts with eerie music can be a conversation peice. Valentine's Day is another favorite for music boxes. Just think of any love song and I bet there is a box that plays it. What a memento for your loved one to have to remember a special moment.

COLLECTORS

In general, you can collect music boxes. But lets say you collect anything Harry Potter, Bugs Bunny, or cars. There are music boxes to please any collector. You can obtain a box that celebrates your favorite sports team, the state you live in, or buy one that gives proceedes to a charity. Breast cancer has its signiture pink music boxes.

Whether its carousels, wooden, for the new baby, or a ballerina music box, it is a delight to receive one for a present. And a treat to see the excitement of a child opening their first music box. And brings together people from different eras and engages conversations about a collectable that is loved by all.
