Choked on the words, ran out of time
To express these emotions
And you asked me to listen, you asked me
To try, to give it a chance
Asked me to give you something, anything
To let you know how I feel
But I let it pass by, I let the moment pass by
I let you pass by, and now you're gone
*
And I'm still standing here. Still standing,
Still hearing you, asking: Speak to me, love.
Speak to me, tell me everything
Tell me where your heart goes,
When my eyes don't see you.
Speak to me, of the things
You would say, if you had the courage
To say what you really mean
Just speak to me
*
But I stood there in silence stood in the perilous moment
Between gaining and losing, on the verge, the edge
Of something beautiful, something that's worth
Breaking all my rules, all my walls, but when you ask
Speak to me, speak to me, just tell me the truth
That's all I could ever want, ever need,
All that I'll take from you. But you need to
Speak to me, speak of
*
The words I can't say? Forming emotions into tangible words,
As if emotions could clearly express the intensity, the true likeness
Of an emotion that drowns me. Overwhelms me, consumes me,
And causes a fear unlike any other to surface.
But you don't know, all the goes on in my head
The thoughts that wrap around emotions, concepts, that seems
To drag on into a string of phrases, fragmented chaotic emergence
Of realization and reality. But it doesn't matter now,
Because you're gone. And I'm still standing here,
Still standing. Unable to move from this moment, because the words
They're still stuck in my throat.
Speak to me
Speak to me
Speak to me
Each one starts to get softer,
And when I can't hear your words
Speaking to me, speaking to my heart.
But now you're gone, and the moment
Has passed by. And maybe it's best,
To leave what wasn't ever mentioned
Unspoken.

Poetry: Speak to me
by Mandy Shorb
Speak to me my darling,
Let your emotions flow,
Let your faith show you the way,
Let your wants speak to you,
Let what you remember
Speak and let us hear
They say no one understands when you speak
Speak on, and let us hear
And see if our Spirits will not
I sit her day after day
Waiting for you to send a message my way
Hoping that you will see me
And everything that we can

And tell me what you see
As you spill out your heart
Your words have beat
The music rings
Where your vowels meet
