I looked over at the friend that I had known for years, since preschool, Keri Ann. She had dark brown, short hair, a little longer than her ears, and was about 5'3. She had olive green eyes and eyelashes so long that she could almost sweep the floor with them. She had a small build, but was curvy. She was lighthearted and she could always make me laugh, and her humorher humor.
She was staring blankly at Mr. Landon as though any minute her head would tumble off her shoulders and roll onto the floor. "Keri," I whispered.
"Humph," was her only reply.
"Keri," I whispered again, hoping I would get a different response.
"What? I'm trying to think."
"What cha thinking about?" I said.
"I'm trying to decide which shirt to wear tonight, on my date with Chase," she paused, "in an attempt to not die from boredom."
"Yeah I can tell," I mumbled, so she couldn't hear. Keri turned to me and gave me a menacing glare. Apparently she heard, "jeez, sorry." We were both silenced and to break the iceor at least melt it a little bitI said, "It's almost lunchtime." I gave her a reproachful smile.

Only a few more seconds for the bell to ring, a growing tension, and anxiety filled the hungry classroom. '57 '58 59 and there it was, the earsplitting alarm pulsing through my body. Even though Mr. Landon was still giving the homework assignment, for tonight, everyone picked up their books and backpacks, completely ignoring him, and walked out the door. When I got into the hallway, with a mob of people's minds crawling with the desire to put the cafeteria's food into their ravenous mouths, I was forced into another crowd of people pushing and shoving. I finally got to my locker, put my stuff in and left for the smelly cafeteria, and its revolting food.

I walked slowly up the intimidating steps of Sherwood High school. I pushed open the unfamiliar doors and looked down to the small piece of paper that said "Mrs. Geoffrey Room 163" in a neat scroll. I looked around and immediately saw a door with a "Room 163" written on the outside, and quickly shuffled over to it. I opened the door brusquely
