Using NASCAR skills in other aspects of lifedo you dare?

This topic got me thinking about how NASCAR drivers incorporate their speedy demeanor into other aspects of driving. I realized that even on their off days from driving they encounter the typical stresses associate with driving.

If you made a list of the daily stresses you encounter, I am confident that you will see a consistency in the pattern of things that piss you off. Typically most people feel that driving is a big stress factor, along with being held up at the grocery store, or the bank, for example. What it seems to all come down to is intolerance for other people's stupidity.

Let's be real, you can be having the greatest day, and all it takes is to get stuck behind somebody at the supermarket who either has too many items in a designated line, (my favorite!) or is trying to use outdated coupons. Whatever the situation may be, the bottom line is that you are being held up and your patience is seriously being tested! By now I am sure you have pegged me as somebody without much patience; you are indeed correct!

Just the other day I was shopping at the supermarket with my wife. I was all excited because it was the day of the NFL playoffs, and my favorite team was playing that afternoon. I laid out the game plan(the key to possessing NASCAR like skills is to always have a game plan, whether in the car, store, etc.) to my wife: she grabs and hand basket as well as I do, and we split up and get the few things we needed, then meet up at the checkout line. Simple enough, right?

I had thought so until I began my journey through the aisles of the store. Now where my wife and I live, we have 3 major supermarkets within a mile radius, so we have no set store we frequent. The problem we face here is that all the stores are laid out differently; therefore, we have to play the walk up and down every aisle until you find what you need game. Believe me, this is not the game I am looking to get into when I have the NFL playoffs awaiting me at home!

As I began my exploration through the store, I took notice of everything all around me. I saw vast amounts of people, many of different ethnicities, as well as age and sex. Another thing I realized was the different mind sets I could read on people. So easy was it to identify the husband that was dragged to the store by his wife and against his will; as well as the senior citizen who didn't care if they spent all day in that store.

Slowly I began to take in all of this,
