Well, as we approach a new world order dream of some (nightmare to others), I cannot help but notice the common thread in most our conversations. WE CAN DO BETTER AS A NATION, WE CAN DO EVEN BETTER AS A BODY OF HUMANITY ON THIS GLOBE!
I write here to say a simple prayer for all good kids who seek harmony and peace, who love their friends but love their enemies even more so. Bombs and guns never have solved any problems in our common human history, the one with the biggest gun is not the last one standing and the little ol' 5'2" man named Jesus would never hate nor would he ever bomb another nation into "submission".
Have we not learned from Iraq and Afghanistan? Have we not learned from Vietnam? Power is ever so more effective when combined with grace and wisdom. Let our common intentions be that we are the most powerful nation on Earth, and now ready to be graceful and gentle in using it. The U.S. can lead the world if indeed its citizen rule and not the politicians who are bought and sold on the market like cheap penny stock commodities.
What do the other nations and their peoples want if not the same as us? To be respected for their choices, be it right or wrong, to be treated not as third class citizen of this globe but as equal partners, and to be able to wheel and deal in an open market that says "I pay so much for oil and trade you an apple for that pencil". Ohhhh! the sweet dreams of my grandpa still ring true today. I remember him telling me how this land was so blessed with abundance and possibilities that for any generation to lose sight of that would be as good as suicide for the whole nation. "Neighbors share and help one another build fences, not to keep each other out" he used to say, "but to keep the dadgum mules and horses and all the barn animals from leaving the property" When we wanted to share with our neighbors, we'd just holler across the fence or send the youngens to their doors.
America, folks was built on the great philosophy of "live and let live" and "what's good for the goose is just as good for the gander" and "you never take another man's property once he's done staked it out. We must not forget, I say it again friends, we must not forget our roots! We may be a young nation, but by God, we built this nation on hard work and an honest's days pay. We may have made mistakes along the way, and probably make more of them as we grow, but for crying out loud, let us not let the Bush like folks make us look like bunch o' bullies who don't know how to get along with our neighbors with kind words and mutual respect.
