America is a country of diversity and freedom. Because of this, all peoples of all races should have the fair and unbiased opportunity to receive an education in an environment where cultural diversity and ethnicity are respected. We are dependent on each other in a real way for survival, and children who are educated in settings which do not reflect the real world are at a loss.
Because the battle for racial integration was a long and cruel one, the strides that the pioneers of this movement made need not be erased. Tax payers' money that supports public education has no color on it. So the question comes, "Why should color or race matter on whom it is spent?" Genius and creativity lies in every race. When we segregate the races,
many opportunities for mining out these rich, cultural contributions are diminished. We learn from each other and the American culture is truly a blend of these. Our art, our music, our dances, foods, architecture, fashions, and literature, along with other things, reflect this. We are who we are because of what we have come through together.
Now is not the time to digress. Now is the time to progress. We need everybody to move forward to advance our country and its beliefs. Other nations are looking at America as a leader. Most countries encourage diversity because many of them are dependent on tourism.
It is offensive to other countries to see racism sticking its ugly head up in America. For those who plan to come here to start a better life, they would hope that we will give all citizen equal chances.
We are bound by a common bond called humanity. Our children make friends with other children of other races and they play together. As children they see no barriers. Racial
barriers are taught. It is up to us to keep these barriers down and to seek to erase as far as possible disparities among the races. In America during the time when Martin Luther King Jr. fought so bravely for the rights of the Minorities, he demonstrated a peaceful way to resolve the issue. However, immediately after his demise, riots broke out. Whole cities and
towns across the nation were set ablaze in certain locales, and people were angry. We do not want to revive those times again.
Instead, our country needs the assurance that we will work together. Our children will work together. Our nations will work together for unity and peace. The home, the first unit, the schools the second unit, the cities, the third unit, the states, the fourth unit, and the nation, the fifth unit, all will step by step work together for the American dream and spirit to continue to blossom and grow as we seek a future of global awareness and cooperation.
