I believe both Islam and Christianity are man-made teachings, created by philosophers and wise men trying and make people live in greater harmony, stay out of trouble and care more for one another.
I do not believe the first testament and some of the following books were written with the intention of controlling the human race and make us follow every word literally. I think the idea was to write a number of books, which people could pick up, read, analyze and use in their own lives.
I do not think there is one almighty God who sees, hears and controls everything. Life on this planet is one long series of co-incidences which has lead to us being (fairly) intelligent and believing we are superior to everything around us. When we die there is no heaven, no hell and no afterlife. It is a nice thought that we get a second chance somewhere else, but no, I do not believe that either. And if I am wrong, there will be a nice surprise after light goes out.
I do not intend to offend anyone who believes, but just as you, I am entitled to my own beliefs. And that is, believing in myself, being good to people around me, not stealing and finally loving more than I hate, which, I guess, isn't far off most religious teachings. The difference being, I do not need a thick book to tell me what is right or wrong.
