Website reviews: TheBreastCancerSite.com

How would you like to help fund mammograms for women who are uninsured or can't afford the test by simply clicking your mouse each day? The website TheBreastCancerSite.com allows you to do just that and so much more.

TheBreastCancerSite.com was launched in October of 2000. Since that time this site has provided funding for 16,000 free mammograms to women in need. Each time the pink button, found on the home page, is clicked site sponsors contribute funds that are distributed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. across the United States.

The results page has a map of the United States that shows statistics of how many breast cancer screenings this program has paid for in each city listed, along with the medical facility that provided the screenings. The statistics are shown when you move your mouse over the various city names.

Free e-cards are available for many occasions including birthdays, with sponsors providing funds for mammograms every time one of these e-cards is opened. These cards can be sent to up to twenty recipients at a time. These cards not only help fund free mammograms, but help spread the word about TheBreastCancerSite.com website.

Another opportunity to increase funding with only a click is to use the PinkRibbonSearch.com. This website incorporates the major Internet search engines you use every day, but through sponsorship agreements each search helps raise funds for this great cause.

Tabs found on the right side of the page, a little different but okay once you get used to them, allow you to search various subjects. There is a page that explains some of the projects that are currently in process. Other tabs have breast cancer survivor stories, supporter stories, information about breast cancer, upcoming fund raising "Walks" information, along with a page that allows you to purchase artisan items from Third World countries to help fight disease and illiteracy.

Part of the GreaterGood.org organization, along with the breast cancer page this website allows you to contribute to other social issues such as hunger, child health, literacy, rainforests, and animal rescue choosing tabs at the top of the website. Contributions are made for each of these causes by simply clicking your mouse on the well marked button on each page.

Breast cancer touches lives every day, but this website gives each of us a simple and easy way to help raise funds for this important cause and to help women who otherwise might forgo a mammogram, an opportunity to save their lives.
