Although most assigments are appointed a due date several days in advance, the average
teenager delays. Only a handful of those who procrastinate will pass, while the other
students sulk at their dismay! Whether the students realize this or not, the teacher
can certainly differientiate those who read the book and those who barely skimmed the "Cliff
Notes".
You have to understand that ever pupil is an individual and comes from an explicit home
life. Whereas one child may come from a loving nurturing docile environment, that encourages
at home school work; not all home life is the same. Teachers do not take note of students
individual needs, both inside and outside of the classroom. Perhaps more educational
instructors should pay strict attention to the downfalls of assigning homework and focus more
on classroom assignments.
Although a lot of students wait until the last minute to start, much less complete their
assignements, these are not always just your average student. Many honors and accelerated
learning students are at fault too. Whether it be the overlaod of the accelerated classes or
just the boredom of the assignment, there are varying degrees of students who are slacking
off. Again, it seems that teachers should be more intune with their students and those with
and with out the apparent desire to learn.
When a student does not do their homeowrk, there has to be a reason. Either their
schedule or the assignements schedule did not allot enough time for reasonable completion; or
there is some other excuse. Either way the teacher should approach each child with
compassion, a compassion for learning. When a student sets their par low and excels at being
a minimalist, their whole future is in jeapardy! It is the students job to allow enough time
to do their school work and to complete it.But it is the educators job to follow up and make
sure the student is able to do this. If not, the teacher then has to go beyond their job
description of just assigning school work and reach out and touch a childs life.
If the educational directors could focus more on getting the book read and not so
much on the essay turned in, maybe more book pages would be turned with interest. The focus
should be having a child read and absord the content of the book and to learn a lesson.
Unfortunately, the assigment seems to focus on getting a grade on an essay, and the book
often times is left out.
