Christmas is just around the corner and it is time to start thinking about Christmas decorations. Bah humbug you say! Christmas decorations in summer, along with the dog days of summer? Who wants to think of artificial trees, lights, ornaments and holiday decor, much less presents, gifts and, oh my gosh, cookies and crafts?! But to get a jump on the quickly approaching holiday season, one must preview the various types of Christmas decorations that stores are already stocking on their shelves.

Christmas decorations are a hot commodity, even in the summer months. Many stores, especially craft stores, stock a room specifically for Christmas shoppers. Unique gifts can be found in these specialty stores. As the temperature hits nearly 90 degrees, one can feel snowflakes and a brisk chill in the Christmas room!

Church bazaars and craft shows will soon begin to appear throughout communities. Christmas decorations will include homemade crafts. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary or not "store bought" you will probably find it here.

Antique malls carry various assortments of nostalgia in the area of Christmas decorations. One can go down memory lane when finding these old time treasures! I have found a lot of Christmas bulbs and ornaments in antique shops. What a wonderful way to decorate your tree! Guests will be in awe when they visit your home and find a tree decorated with Christmas decorations from a by-gone era.

If you are on a tight budget, check out your local thrift store. They usually have an abundance of donated Christmas decorations. You may even find items that are new and have never been opened. Shopping here is comparable to a treasure hunt. You won't find an abundance of the same item, but odds are you will find something to suit your fancy. Kids will love this shopping adventure!

If your creativity juices are kicking into overtime, you may want to plan a visit to an area pottery shop where you create your own gift. You select the piece (Christmas decorations for the tree?), paint it and then the shop will finish it off by firing it in the kiln. Your kids will love it too! You can create special memories and gifts all at once!

Before shopping, it would serve you well to pull out your current holiday decorations. Sort through and see what you have and what you might want to donate to charity or pass down to loved ones. This will give you a good idea of what you want to buy for the upcoming season.

So many choices and so little time! Turn up your air-conditioner in the car, get chilled to the bone and let the winter games begin! Christmas is almost here and the perfect Christmas decorations await you!
