Why buses always come in threes: Assessing public transportation

by Hasan Goreja

Created on: August 03, 2008

I can't really comment over the question that why buses always come in threes? But I can surely opine over the assessment of public transport in general. We always know and, up to some extent, like the balance of the nature that everything is equipped with good and bad points. I'd pen down both for the public transport and it'll purely be on the discretion of the reader as to which side he wishes to let it go.

The factor of money comes to be the foremost in any aspect of life and public transport is no exception. The expenses of commuting through public buses and owning and maintaining ones own set of wheels is not even comparable. And more people on buses means less congestion on the road which in turn is the answer of traffic jams and accidents.
Most people, while going to offices, tend to do their office work on the go. Making or rehearsing presentations, scanning a report or simply reading the news paper or a best-seller. Travelling on buses provides you with an opportunity to do all the above without worrying about the factors you would've otherwise have to keep in mind while driving your own car.
If you commute on your own car, you tend to remain in bed for more time and in turn, the probability of getting late for work is more. The buses have a specific time to run back and forth, hence it pumps your adrenaline and you are always in time for work. See, how different means of travel alter your bad habits.
You are getting late for the meeting and you are actually present in front of your office building on time but you can't find a parking space to park your motor. No worries, if you have used the bus. Use of public transport also poses less danger to the environment than using a car. So, in a way, you favour Mother Earth as well.
Coming to the other side of the coin, at peak times the buses are over loaded and the congestion in the buses makes it difficult to breath. And sometimes, you even have to keep standing throughout the journey, draining down your energy and making you fatigued.
In some parts of the world, commuters, especially those belonging to the fair sex, are harassed by constant ogling and staring of the fellow passengers. So, most people prefer their own vehicles.
If the route you are journeying on is a long one, it's no wonder that you'd need to change the buses which makes it loathsome and exacerbating. The factor of time wastage also comes to play by the change of buses.
Cited above are the pros and cons of using the public transport. The assessment is totally based on the hands-on experience of yours truly, so errors and omissions can be expected. By concluding this piece of writing, I would assert that no matter how bad the notion of travelling by bus looks like, in the end it grants you with such an experience on day-to-day basis that is totally out of question once ones own car is under consideration.
