A person cannot be gay and a Christian. To be called by the name of Christ, a person must confess all sin and repent of all sin. Homosexuals do not view their sexual activity as sin. Therefore, a homosexual cannot be a Christian. Why would a Christian church consider ordaining an unsaved person as a priest? To entertain the notion of ordaining a gay person as a priest is proof that the church is a false church that does not live by the standards set by God and Christ.
If I understand the Catholic Creed on the basest level, a priest must be unmarried and celibate. If this is a requirement of priesthood, why would sexual preferences be considered since a priest is not allowed to practice sexual activity with anyone? What, then, is the homosexual actually asking for? If he intends to remain celibate, why call himself a homosexual?
There is much that is wrong in the question itself. Christian church, gays, priests; these three words cannot be reconciled to each other. A Christian walks the same walk that Christ walked upon the earth. Christ remained unmarried that he might devote all his time to teaching the disciples. He never told another person that all priests should remain unmarried. That is a requirement that man has added. Even so, if a vow is made to remain celibate, it must be adhered to. Christ said that He came,..."not to abolish the Law, but to fulfill the Law..." From the old testament to the new, the laws were not done away with, nor were they changed. God said homosexual behavior is an abomination. It was then and it is now. For any person to ordain a practicing homosexual is to commit an abomination.
Since priests are primarily Catholics, we are basically asking this question of the Catholic church. The Bible states that we are to call no man Father except our Father in Heaven. Priests are called by the title, "Father". They ask their members to confess to them and they decide the penance. Christ rent the veil in the Temple so there would be no more intercessor between God and man except Christ, Himself. What does the Catholic church need? They need to elect called men of God to be Pastors of their churches, not priests. They need to call sin a sin before the wrath of God is poured out upon their heads.
No, Christian churches should not ordain homosexuals as Deacons, Priests, Pastors, janitors, or butt wipers in the nursery. Practicing homosexuals have no place in church leadership. They need to fill the pews that they might hear The Word and be convicted
