Internet dating or online dating has become commonplace in our societies. Single men and women join online dating sites everyday. It is clear to see why so many of us are attracted to Internet sites in search of our perfect partner. The Internet has made it easy for people to communicate from all over the world. This factor is appealing when looking for that special someone as it increases the chances of finding him/her. Most Internet dating sites have increased their services on offer for their members/viewers to make the experience that bit more personal. Today not only can one speak to another in a different country or even continent but with features such as chat' available on most leading Internet sites, one can have a live conversation with another.

The advantage of such sites aside, the first and perhaps most important thing for any single man/woman looking for love online is to capture the attention of the other members/the targeted audience. The most effective way of achieving this is undoubtedly the use of a great picture on the member's online profile. As the saying goes a picture says a thousand words' and so it's true to say that with such a vast choice of members on these sites, the profile picture can make or break the deal. Most people don't want to spend too much time these days; we live in a fast world whereby we act fast and expect fast results. A great picture can tell the viewer enough for him/her to want to read the member's profile instead of clicking to see who else is available. In same way that a bad picture can send viewers in a rush to click to the next profile regardless of how impressive the rest of the profile maybe.

But what is the difference between a good/great picture and a bad one? Well to answer this question let's start with the top things to avoid when either taking a picture intended for use in your online profile and/or choosing from pictures you have (your personal album) what picture to place on your online ad.

1) Use a picture! This may come as a surprise but it is crucial. Once you have joined an online/Internet-dating site that provides an option to place a photo (most of them do), please do so! Often than not some individuals opt not to include a picture for whatever reason. Some men especially, think that by not including their pictures on their ads they will be perceived as mysterious' by the targeted audience.
