This is one topic that really gets my blood boiling! I believe that illegal immigrants in the United States should be deported. You may think that sounds like a fairly harsh statement, but the last time I looked in a dictionary the word illegal meant unlawful. For those that do speak fluent English the definition should be easily understood. We as a country, somewhere along the way, have tried to take everyone in and provide opportunity for all. What about the average legal American in our country? We need to work on providing for these law abiding citizens.
It would seem fairly straight across the board, if someone is found to be an illegal, then they should be deported. I know this would be costly, but in reality, how much does it cost to support an illegal citizen? Chances are there are medical bills, housing issues, food and clothing needs, and the list continues. If someone is in our country illegal it should be impossible for them to find a job, but due to the raids within our factories recently I question this system. Not only are these illegals forced to steal to put food on the tables of their families, but they go to the extreme of stealing the identity of law abiding citizens. Can you see something wrong with this picture, yet?
It amazes me that there are people within the United States that think we owe these people free medical care, food from our food banks, and sheltered housing. My husband and I are raising two teenage boys and we try to set good examples for our boys through the things we do each day. Are we perfect? No, we make mistakes just like many parents. But, what is extremely frustrating is the message of legality that is sent when our wonderful country promotes citizenship for illegal immigrants. The word illegal means illegal! I do not see where people think the word illegal means rights should be given.
We are a caring nation and we do care about human beings. But, somewhere along the line we have lost the focus of taking care of the people that work hard each day. Many law abiding citizens work 12 hour work days and follow the rules that our great forefathers have laid upon us. I wonder what Benjamin Franklin would think of our world today, as it sure is different from the time The Federal Convention convened in Philadelphia on May 14, 1787, to revise The Articles of Confederation? Times are different today, but we still have some of the same values and rules that are easy to follow. I think these forefathers understood the meaning of the word illegal and would have encouraged people to come to our country in a legal way.
Despite the efforts of many to encourage people to stay in our country as an illegal; I hold my ground to the statement that these illegal immigrants should be deported. We should work together to provide for our citizens that labor hard to provide. As citizens, we can encourage our youth to know the meanings of everyday words, such as the word "illegal." Maybe by educating this next generation, something can be done. Therefore, the average citizen would not have to worry so much about identity theft and the potential job losses added to our already troubling economy could be lessened. Speak up and let your feelings be known, as an illegal immigrant is here illegally and should be deported.
