Leadership trumps race and gender

by Elizabeth K Cole

Created on: August 02, 2008

Sadly I would love to believe that leadership does trump race and gender but that is not the case this year. At first I thought Obama might just be a very good choice for the next leader of our country for so many reasons, but not now. Once he decided to yet again play the race card, my respect for him is gone. I noticed inuindo's during the campaign against Hillary with his statements like "it is now our time," and "we will finally be on top." Sadly I overlooked that but not any longer. The man is a true wolf in sheep's clothing and no one will see it unless he is elected. However, by then it will be too late.

This man has been raised as a Muslim most of his life and yet he hides that fact in shame. Why? A true Muslim (not a terrorist either) will not shame themselves by denying their faith. That sounds more like a Judas to me personally. Not only that, he has attended a church known to promote the black power movement for years and yet now he suddenly denys it because he wants to be president. What is also so very sad is that it took major pressure from outside sources for him to deny this so called minister and he still did so grudingly. Wasn't this enough for everyone to stop and think he might not be such a good candidate for this job? He condoned his minister preaching "God damn America" and "it's time for the black man to get ahead." Is anyone out there even paying attention?

I think my biggest question is this, is America really this gullible? This man has done all he can covertly to deny whites, and non-Muslim blacks, and yet he is riding that right into the white house. I think it will be a very sad time in our history if this man is elected president and God help the United States then! There will be no equality, he has made that clear. There is no hope, he is already siding with big oil companies and trying to stop the very actions that will make us less dependent on foreign oil. He will not stop the foreclosures, he's already made that plain.

This one man alone has set back the work of Martin Luther King many times over. I never once heard him say "it's time for the black man to rule the country." His entire idea was that "no man be judged by the color of his skin," not "no BLACK man be judged by the color of his skin." Any true believe of Dr. King's works should not even be considering Obama for any office, but then again, history has been known to be changed too. I think this is going to be yet another change in history.

In this case, leadership is governed by race, and gender, because those cards have been played and are continuing to be played and America is buying into the game. Heaven help us all!
