Short stories: Tales of horror

Josh ran over to Helen and much to his surprise found Eden awake, but severely mauled. Josh and Helen picked up Eden and carried her to Josh's truck that was about a half mile away. Eden couldn't speak, but while they were carrying her to Josh's truck she felt something large, smooth and cold gradually pass through her body. Eden thought that maybe GOD had sent an angel to her, and that the angel passed through her as a sign that she would be all right. Before Eden could decipher if what she experienced was real, her mind went shut down. When they reached the truck Eden had gone into a coma. Josh used his cell phone and called the Saint Thomas Memorial Hospital.

A helicopter arrived shortly thereafter and rushed her to the hospital. Eden had a heard of doctor's and nurses waiting for her arrival. The doctors performed numerous surgeries over a period of a few months to repair Eden's broken and battered body. After several more months of physical therapy, Eden recovered from her wounds with only one physical problem - she only had one eye. The bear had the other. When Eden thought of this incident her mind started to wonder what really happened that night. Was she hallucinating, or was she so close to death that her brain was playing tricks on her.

Eden, though she tried as best she could, couldn't stop thinking that there must be a connection between these two events. As she walked, lights from nearby cabins flickered and died. Soon, she was walking alone with no light other than the full moon that seems to follow her wherever she went.

The darkness that covered the trees and the cabin's appeared somewhat darker than normal. Eden began to feel a chill come on. It was nothing like what she felt flow slowly through her back at her cabin, just the coldness of the night creeping inside her clothes.

She stopped to take off her shoes and release some pebbles that had found their way into the soft comfort of a well-worn pair of sneakers. When she finished this act she heard what she thought was a voice, a very recognizable voice, her voice. But, she wasn't speaking and it was coming from behind her. She turned around just in time to see another face, this one more grisly and disfigured than
