truck, but also the superior choice in its class.
#5: Mitsubishi Raider
MSRP: $20,490
Standard features: 3.7L V6, Manual
Fuel Efficiency: 18 [Combined]
The Raider has yet to live up to its expectations as few of its owners are truly happy with its performance and build quality. Fuel mileage is typically not what is promised by the dealer and transmission issues such as clunking seem common. It has very poor power and no pickup on acceleration and many consumer reviews note that if they could choose again they would have picked a cheaper full-size truck such as the Chevy Silverado or the Ford F-150 which would have yielded comparable to better fuel mileage.
#6: Toyota Tacoma
MSRP: $15,170
Standard features: 2.7L I4, Automatic
Fuel Efficiency: 16/20/18
Seems like every day the television is plagued by advertisements for the Tacoma, but is it really as good as they claim? True truck experts say no. Sure it is better than many mid-size trucks, but is still edged out by the Nissan Frontier and Dodge Dakota in motor and ride noise. It is praised, however, for its powerful V6, solid build quality, and acceptable interior.
#7: Honda Ridgeline
MSRP: $28,500
Standard features: 3.5L V6, Automatic
Fuel Efficiency: 15/20/17
The Honda Ridgeline just may be the most overpriced truck of all-time. Though its owners are usually quite pleased with their purchase, experts say it does not live up to Honda's capabilities. Fuel economy is one of the worst in its class; it has an uncomfortable rear seat, no alternative engine to choose from, and has poor forward and rear driving visibility. Pros include car-like handling, comfortable interior, good cargo space, excellent safety ratings and dent-resistant bed. The cost is much higher than the return, and the interior is no better than some of the nicer cabins in its class.
