Poetry: Come back to me

by Supermassive Wilson

Created on: August 01, 2008

Can I be your backbone,
One who stands beside you
Not behind nor in front?
Can I be your backbone,
One who supports you
When you are shunned?
Can I be your shield of armour,
A thick coat of arms
Welded and etched with all of my love?

Will you be my backbone,
One with patience and compassion
Not shame and doubt?
Will you be my backbone,
One who sees me through my pain
And carries it with me throughout?
Will you be my barrier,
Like a trench in a battle
Guarding me with tender care?

Let us be each other's backbone!
Like two doves soaring side by side
Without leaving each other behind.
Let us be each other's backbone!
Two of which can tie a secure knot
Together with their hands intricately intertwined.
Let us be each other's backbone!
Two lovers turned to each other
And not away from the happiness that awaits them.
