anything like the trees in Tiffany's, but they were definitely priceless to us. Or maybe I should use the words priced less as a better description?
Ever wonder what you could do with those old tee shirts you have laying around the house? How about making them into a shopping tote? If you cut off a bit from the top and sew up the bottom you have a perfect sack for the grocery store that may even save you money at the store when you use it. Some stores will give you a few cents off your purchase if you BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag). Others may enter you in a contest to win a free gift certificate so that can really save you some green. Tee shirts can also be used as dust rags, material for Halloween customers, and even material for other projects like Christmas ornaments.
Christmas decorations are fun, but storing them can give many people a migraine. However, storing them can be easy if you save your egg carton containers. I find those are the perfect size for some of them.
If you have a little one in the house, you have baby food jars and those little things are perfect for storing herbs, nuts and bolts, nails, safety pins, or anything else that is tiny and needs to be organized in your home. You can even attach the jar lids to a shelf in order to save space.
Cottage cheese containers and the like are also great storage containers and they can even make great plant containers for starter plants. I've also used them for water gardens. Pasta jars and the like can make wonderful candle holders or you could even use them as a decorative fish tank for a beta fish. Just make sure the jar is bleached and then thoroughly rinsed before you place the fish in it. And lastly, your laundry bottle containers can make wonderful spare change holders or even a dog food scooper if you cut it in half.
These are just a few ideas for ways to recycle your common household items. The possibilities can be endless with a little imagination and a bit of creative flare. But the best part about recycling is that it can be fun and save you some green while you are doing it.
