The Old Barn

All these years that old barn stands

Collecting the memories of secret rendezvous

There is nothing on the wooden floor

But dust and the echoes of many "I love You's"

Thoughts of warm passionate embraces

Amongst the soft yellow haystacks

And the scented residue in the faded wood

Holds the secrets of many goodbyes

Of gentle laughter through a moonlit window

And singing beneath the starry skies

Lovers sneaking out in the midnight hours

To steal a kiss, as there was no tomorrow

This old barn much more of us

Than a horrizon of bright summer sun

Or prismatic shafts of multicolored delight

Casting shadows upon the solid wooden floor

Time has passed, but our hearts have not withered

This barn is our diary of everlasting love

And a visual memorial of halcyon days

Of sincere promises, whispers and kisses

And a future so bright, we promised love

And were blinded by the sunset of fate

Who says you never revisit the past

I am still with you in that old barn.
