Ever hear the statement "you can NEVER OWN a cat but the cat OWNS you"?

Male cats are Male cats! They OWN everything within their existence. And, it does NOT mater the size of the kitty. Male cats have a strange view of the world in that every other cat, including YOU, are just THEIRS. Territory is also a priority and any female cat that comes within that area BELONGS to HIM.

Male cats will do almost anything to impress their girls. He will purr in their ear and whisper the delights of his ownership. The Male Cat must prove his dominance over every creature within his Territory. A female that wishes to leave the group is taking a very big risk. Not friendly as far as humans view "friendly".

In HIS household he believes he is Master! As such he will go out of his way to establish that fact. He will jump in your lap and just dare any kitty to try to share that space. You must groom HIM and make sure there are no missed spots. He will purr very loud to keep you performing your function.

Then there is the meal deal. He will make very nice indeed until you place HIS food bowl down on HIS designated area. Humans think this is very cute indeed. Knowing this, HE will then proceed to do the dinner dance and then devour every bit of it to prevent any other "fur ball" from having anything of it. Again, humans think this is acceptable behavior.

Then we have the bed time issue. As soon as you get settled in and have a nice warm spot established, HE will come in and take that spot as his. After all you warmed it just for HIM.

When guests comes by HE will hide out until HE gets the right signals that these folk are not harmful and that they could be a cat. There should be no other cat smell on the guests. That is just gouache! Bringing someone else into HIS domain, tsk, tsk.

If they are acceptable, HE will try to sit on them and shed some fur just to mark them as OK. Again, humans think this is very cute. He may even purr for them and allow them to pet HIM.

The cat box is another issue. HE demands a clean cat box and will often try to clean it himself; making a complete mess just to show you that HE demands the proper environment. This is not often looked upon by humans as cute or acceptable and will often cause HIM physical discomfort.

Vets are altogether a different matter. HE has NO control and must be taken under duress to that evil place where various body parts may be removed or sharp ouchies administered by NASTY people that HE cannot control. Totally a bad thing as far as HE is concerned.

With all of this said, it depends on whose perspective we consider "friendlier". From HIS perspective, HE grants that you may exist within HIS sphere of influence. But, most everything in the cat world is about domination.
