Son of Citation Machine:

David Warlick, the creator of Son Of Citation Machine (SOCM), is a revolutionary who is committed to integrating technology into the classroom. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina and posts his own blog, which one can access from the SOCM site.

Son of Citation Machine originally began as "The Citation Machine: The Landmark Project" back in the year 2000. Originally, It was meant for his students and the school that he works for. Since then, he has added many upgrades and now in 2008 just finished version 3.0. The sole purpose of the website is, "make it so easy for high school, college, and university students and other researchers to credit information sources, that there is virtually no reason not to"

His website: www.citationmachine.net, is used by college and high school students who need helping citing their references in MLA, APA, Turabian, or Chicago formats.

Doing citations the old way (with the help from a book) can take up to 45 minutes, especially if you have several resources. With Citation Machine one can quickly choose to cite a magazine article, a web reference, or multiple authors.

Citation Machine does not require it's users to register, however, as an incentive, it promises not give you any advertising of any kind if you do register. Also, registered guests have the option to save the sources they've already cited, so that one can use them again later. Otherwise, say "hello" to adds along the borders of the page and rely only on copy-paste.

Son Of Citation Machine is very user-friendly and pretty self explanatory, however, just in case you have a rocky start, here's a quick walk through of the site:

The Flags on the top left (your left) corner are the different languages that SOCM is available in.

The "AAA" on the top center are there to choose font size.

To cite something:

First click on your desired format (MLA, APA, etc) found on the left side of the screen, then click if your reference is a print or non-print source: book, e-zine, etc. If there is more than one author, click "more authors". Fill in the blanks, press "continue", then copy paste! Of course, you should remember to capitalize in the right places, but basically SOCM does all the work for you.

Once you discover Son of Citation Machine, it is sure to hold a strong spot on your "favorites" list as it really does help simplify your life.
