The easiest way to find work at home is to create the job yourself. The possibilities are limitless. You may not be able to quit your day job right away to make it happen, but you can definitely work from home with a bit of planning and effort.

As a writer, you can write anything from greeting cards or community newsletters to novels at home and set up your own distribution channels, such as local stores for your product. You may even be able to write an article from home for an existing publication in your area. An example of how you can find work as a writer include contacting local stores in your area and finding out how to distribute your product through their store. Even national chains will accept local goods in a local store, but your best bet is a local store where you know the staff and management.

Actually, your local store can distribute any product you make from home, provided you have a bar code on it. For instance, if you brew beer, grow local produce, make handmade toys or local potato chips/salsa, then chances are you can find a store to carry your brand if you simply ask and follow the store policy to submit a new product idea. Just make sure to set up a website with your product and contact information (Post Office Box and a send request form on your site will do fine), because chances are other companies will hear about you and want to carry your product as well.

You can set up a website yourself with free Open Source software and an inexpensive web hosting company like streamline.net. Now take a moment and think about the possibilities if you can get your product on the shelves of a local store and actually have decent sales, then you can promote this information to other stores and get on their shelves as well - all of this from home.

If you have any money to invest, then you may want to consider buying property and renting it out for a reasonable amount of money. Right now house prices are falling and many countries are in recession, foreclosures are high and buyers are wary of investing because of the possibility of negative equity if prices keep falling and because it's harder to get a loan at the time this article is being written. However, if you have some cash stashed away somewhere then you can bag a bargain for cash, fix it up if necessary, and manage it yourself or hire an established property management company to help you. There are more people renting than buying because of issues in the economy, and if you have a decent property
