How easily obtainable is heaven

by Carmen Manske

Created on: July 30, 2008

Heaven is as easily attainable as you want it to be. People tend to complicate things, or simply refuse to act on the simple steps that must be taken to be acceptable to God. God has given you a wonderful gift, through the death of his son Jesus, but He cannot force you to accept that gift.

Just as with any present you receive, it's up to you as to how you are going to use it. If someone gives you a new car, but you like your junky old car better, it was your decision that you wanted to continue driving the old car. And it is not the person's fault who gave you the new car, if your old car happens to break down and you already sold the new car. Then you're stuck without a car.

It's the same idea with the gift of salvation. If God hands you a new life, and the promise of Heaven, but you reject it because you love your sinful life, then it's your fault when you're left without a Savior and you go to Hell.

All you have to do to go to Heaven is be born-again. Confess your sin, repent, and accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and love God with all your heart. Do not continue your life of sin. It is the path to destruction. You need to make every effort to be more like God. When you sin, it doesn't mean you're going to Hell. Just confess it, and keep living for God. If you use Jesus as a free ticket to sin, and try to live in your old ways, thinking that you'll go unnoticed, then you will receive the punishment that you rightly deserve. God is a just and holy God, and has to punish those who turn against Him, and do wrong. He will not punish your sin if you are covered by the blood of Jesus.

Don't try to get yourself into Heaven by all the good works you manage to accumulate. You are supposed to be ready to serve people at all times, but this is because God wants Jesus shine through you, so that people will praise Him.

The only difference between you and sinners is that you were saved. You are not better than others. You were just like them. Be compassionate towards sinners, and towards people who are against you. They are lost because they don't have Jesus. Don't become proud or think that you're perfect. Humble yourself and think of yourself as lower than others, as Jesus did. Read your Bible and find out what exactly God expects of you. Once you have Jesus enter into your heart, you will know what's right and wrong, and learn more along the journey. Follow the Holy Spirit in the choices that you make. Obey God, and rely on Jesus Christ to save you, and you will go to Heaven.
