Tonight I stepped outside to catch a breath of the midnight breeze
Familiar smells and sounds dancing from the trees
Accompanied, ironically, by turning memories
I thought I could forget, though
They brought me to my knees
A stronger man, impervious I know
Would not of let this show
But as weak a man I've come to be
I cannot let them go
So tonight I'll step outside again
To catch a breath of the midnight breeze
And gaze upon the brightest stars
For that wish that brought me to my knees
And if only for tonight, then let it be
I'll dream a dream of memories
And tomorrow they'll be gone again
A promise, hidden; never seen

The house is peeling, like my skin
The sun is blaring, like my mind.
