The Arizona Diamondbacks are a very young team without much experience. They played their first game in franchise history in 1998 and won the World Series in 2001. Since the franchise is so young there is only a handful of players to choose from. What the Diamondbacks do have is very good players that have had a huge impact.
Scott Finley
Scott played 6 seasons for Arizona and was a solid contributor in center field. While playing for the Diamondbacks he had 847 hits, good for second in team history. Finley had a batting average of .278 and crushed just over 150 home runs. He drove in and scored almost 500 runs, which is very nice for a newly born franchise.
Randy Johnson
Randy has played 8 years for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Randy along with Curt Schilling led the D'backs to their first, and only World Series win. Randy and Curt would go on to be Co-World Series MVPs. With Arizona, Randy had a 2.83 ERA and over 2,000 strikeouts. Johnson earned 115 wins and pitched 37 complete games with Arizona. He is one of the best pitchers in the history of the game and is one of the best in Arizona history.
Curt Schilling
Curt's stay in a Diamondback uniform was not very long. When he was in a D'back uniform he was tremendous. With an ERA of 3.14 and 58 wins he was productive with them. Curt and Randy Johnson would lead the team in 2001 to become the World Series Champs. Curt earns this spot for his post-season performance in 2001. He started 6 games in the post season and completely dominated the opposition. He would start 3 games in the World Series and have an ERA of 1.69, shutting down the Yankees. This helped earn him Co-World Series MVP.
Brandon Webb
Brandon is Arizona's current ace. He was the winner of the National Cy Young Award in 2006. Anyone that has seen him pitch is aware of his devastating sinker. When Brandon is on top of his game, he is one of the best in the league. With 79 wins, Brandon is a young pitcher that has incredible potential. He sports an ERA of 3.21 and over 1,000 strikeouts. Webb will be the head of the Arizona rotation for years to come. The sky is the limit for this young stud.
Luis Gonzalez
Luis is the best hitter in Diamondbacks history. He leads the team in at-bats, games, hits, home runs, runs batted in, doubles, and total bases. Luis would hit over 200 home runs and drive in almost 800 runs for Arizona. Out of his franchise leading 1,337 hits, none was more important that his 9th inning shot in the World Series. With the winning run on third, he slapped a single to center field off of Mariano Rivera to win the World Series. "Gonzo," as he is called, is the best player in the history of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
