It's SAD that when I look at all the articles posted here that all of them are criticizing the Chinese and their policies. Now while I admit it may not be perfect, it's far from that cruel, evil society you all write about. I my self am an American and to see the way people act tword the Chinese shames me greatly. How can you be so critical on something you do not even fully understand? I remember a few months back when the whole Tibetan monks thing came up and I viewed several different websites. One the Washington time and when I read the comments I was appalled at how the US bias had managed to lead general public opinion against the Chinese. Then I went and viewed China daily and it's articles comments and also a few china expat forums and talked with my fellow expats about what I had heard. Like many of my fellow expats, we read both Chinese and American papers and get both sides of the story. It was at that moment I realized how bias our papers and news stations are here in the US. Do not judge what you do not understand. If I ask you all, I bet only a few of you have been to China, and a select few have been immersed in it. Now when I say that I mean you have lived there, experienced REAL Chinese culture, REAL Chinese food, and REAL China.
So when you ask me do I think the chances of a terrorist incident are high, I say yeah the chances are higher than usual. But it shames me to think that all you fellow American would be hoping for a terrorist attack or even condemning one. To the Chinese it would be a strike to the very core, even more so than 9/11 in the US. Whoever perpetrated it would be as good as dead. The Chinese people have sacrificed so much and are really trying in ways that you don't even know about. To strike at the olympics would be to strike at China it self.
And before you get off on a tangent about how bad communist govts are and such, I just wanted to let you all know that it is not so bad. Trust me I know seeing as I have lived here for over 2 years.
So as a wrap up don't tell me the Chinese are the biggest prison in the world blah blah blah, don't get me started on all the human rights violations the US has perpetrated. Just go there and enjoy the olympics and come back and say wow, I couldn't find Kung pow chicken anywhere!
As some wise man once said, "The Olympics are a time to come together and compete on an even playing level free from politics. It is sad some try to pack it in their suitcases."

I have decided to write a rebuttal to those who still want to defile the Beijing Olympics of 2008 using the clichs of yesterday.
