Fitness Frenzy by Game Agents is a great medium to fast paced game styled very much like Diner Dash except set in a Gym atmosphere.
The music went well with the game and the game environment. There is a slight storyline to the game at the beginning but from there, you quickly move through the days completing your daily money goals and even receiving awards for perfect days. Which in the hour I played, I only managed 2 of those but did receive goal stars for all the days I played in.
You start out in a basic gym with only three pieces of exercise equipment, all of which upgrades are available as you earn money. The more you advance, the more equipment and services are unlocked. Such as you can hire a staff to make your job easier as your work becomes harder and harder. Each item that you are given can only be upgraded twice, including the additional upgrades which you purchase, they all max out at 3. But upgrades are not cheap and you won't get them very quickly.
You play the game as Vicky who decided to get herself in shape and then rose to the occasion to help others do the same. As you choose the right training program fo each customer who comes into your gym you receive stars which as you accumulate them, you'll be given chances to upgrade how quickly and effectively she does each of the tasks she must do through each level.
This is really just another version of the already dozens of games out there that have this gaming theme; complete the ranks moving on to bigger and better buildings with bigger and better upgrades available. But just like many of the games out there with this theme, once the game is completed, the only other thing that would make you feel compelled to continue playing it is to get trophies for perfect completion of each level. I currently have about a half dozen of these games on my computer and as soon as I complete it, it's very rare that I even remember it's on my computer. Personally, I prefer games that keep some challenge left to encourage the gamer to continue playing.
Would I purchase it? Hmmm. It's an attractive game and I do like it, but the only thing that would compel me to purchase it would be just so I could add yet another game to my collection of many that I've completed and perfected and then let build dust in the back of my hard drive for those few and far between days when my internet is down and I just feel like playing a game. I would rate this game as a 3. I don't really see anything wrong with the game and I did actually enjoy the ease of which the game was to get right in there and play it and was disappointed when the hour was up, but I do see this as a game I'd only end up putting aside once it was completed to move onto something else that holds my interest.
These style games are extremely addictive, but lately it seems the market is just flooded with them and they're all spin offs of the same idea. It really makes me wonder just what the PC gaming industry is thinking about its consumers. Are we really these mindless people that just want to do the same thing over and over again with no challenge?
