In my mind Senator Barack Obama is clearly the best choice of the two persons running for the office of the President of the United States. I have to admit that I am a Democrat with a Union background, so many peiple will call me a starry eyed liberal. However, in writing this article I have tried to stay away from the "hot button" issues and write about hard occurrences in our political system.

The best reason for Democrat Obama is that Republican Bush has completely lost the confidence of the electorate. He is one of the most unpopular presidents of recent decades. Senator McCain, if elected, would have to spend a huge amount of time telling folks that hs is not former President Bush and to not expect him to do the same things. I am sure that Senator Obama will not have this problem.

The second reason for soundly endorsing Senator Obama is his Universal Medical Coverage proposals. While the Republicans thoroughly despise this concept, there is no rational way of dealing with the numbers of people needing health insurance than through the offices of a federal agency. Private sector insurance companies would carve up the market, cream the best risks out and leave the rest (poor risks) for the federal government - not a good idea!. We need to pick up all the uninsured and those who fall under coverage because of low income. If the millionaires and employer covered folks want to stay that way - FINE! But lets pick up the 45-50 Million folks who are not currently insured and get them covered through a Universal Health System administered through a federal agency whose sole duty is to administer health insurance.

The economy will continue to worsen with more banks failing, more jobs lost and a growing deficit due to the expense of Iraq and inflation rearing its ugly head. The Republican method of dealing with the economy has only worked sporadically. And it has only worked in good times when we didn't need these methods to stir up some good economy numbers. Unless some out of the box thinking is formulated and tried, the next president will sit there for 1-2 years fighting the left over economy from the Bush Administration.

There are many other good reasons why Obama should be elected President, but to run through these many processes seems un-necessary. The people will vote this fall and endorse the idea that this young Senator from Illinois is the better candidate. He will bring his campaign promises, new leaders for the major agency leadership, and we will start all over again.
