The thrill of standing at the base of a huge waterfall cannot be understood until you've done it. The cool spray misting across your face, the thunder that you can feel as much as hear and the sunlight being refracted by the water droplets into a pale, beautiful rainbow is enough to make even the most stoic among us feel the glory that must have been present in the Garden of Eden. 1) ANGEL FALLS (3212 feet) in Venezuela
2) TUGELA FALLS (3110 feet) in South Africa
3) TRES HERMANAS (3000 feet) in Peru
4) OLO'UPENA FALLS (2953 feet)in Hawaii, U.S.
5) YUMBILLA, CATARATA (2938 feet) in Peru
6) VINNUFOSSEN (2822 feet) in Norway
7) BALAIFOSSEN (2788 feet) also in Norway
8) PU'UKA'OKU FALLS (2756 feet) in Hawaii, U.S.
9) JAMES BRUCE FALLS (2755 feet) in Canada and
10) BROWNE FALLS ( 2744 feet) in New Zealand
Of the ten highest waterfalls in the world, though two are in the United States, none of them are on the mainland of the U.S. The tallest waterfall on the continental U.S. comes in at number 14. It is the 2584 foot tall COLONIAL CREEK FALLS in the state of Washington.
