Memoirs: Best horseback riding experiences

What is my very best time, horseback riding experience? Now that's a question that is hard to answer. I always had the best of time experiences when I was riding.

As a child I went horseback riding every summer for 3 months. After a while I got quite good,if I do say so myself. I had so many best horseback riding experiences, where do I start?

Well to start at the beginning, I always asked for the slowest, tamest, smallest horse at the stable. I had no intention of being scared. I admit I was not too brave at the beginning. When I was about 12 all I wanted was to be able to get on a horse, hold the reins in my hands and give the horse a little kick in the side and hopefully take off on a nice slow, easy ride.

I just wanted to go home and brag that I could ride a horse.

I used to go riding in Marin County, California and horse back riding was quite popular there.

I used to go on long 3 hour rides on the trails with groups of people who enjoyed riding and had many best time experiences of their own.

But to get back to me, On these 3 hour rides I had some magical rides that I will never forget. Magical rides with me, my horse and the Countryside. The beauty of it all was magic to me.

I traveled on trails with beautiful scenery beyond belief. Three hours of glorius, peaceful rides in the country on my wonderful timid, slow little horse.

Somes we had our horses walk, sometimes, trot, sometimes gallop.

I must confess, my slow little horse was not much up to galloping but he would try his best. He couldn't go too fast and that suited me just fine.

Riding in Marin County, was one of my best riding experiences as a child.

As a teen-ager I took riding lessons in San Francisco. This was a new kind of riding for me because I used an English Saddle not a Western with a horn, as I was accustomed to in Marin County.

I just rode around in an indoor ring for the lessons. It was an interesting experience and I guess it was one of my best horseback riding experiences of my young life.

I had a problem without the horn on the sadddle, but I managed to hang on with my legs hugging the horse and praying some.

The last thing I remember about the lessons was that my instructor, who was a meanie, told me to keep my hands on the reins when I tried to blow my nose. What did she expect me to do with my nose running? Well, maybe she thought my falling off the horse was more important.
Anyway, she embarressed me so much that I almost quit the lessons.

But, the really best and most exciting horseback riding
