There are a lot of ways to eat healthy during the festive season of Christmas and New Year. All you have to do is buy the right kinds of food and exercise a little discipline over your appetite and you'll be on your way to a healthier you. Most people that are successful at eating healthy accomplish this a little at a time. You've heard the expression, "take baby steps first"; well this is true with eating healthy too.
The first thing to do is to buy some delicious vegetables which you probably already do, right? These are delicious and contain no sugar which, by the way, you want to avoid. You can treat yourself to some nice sweet fruit like watermelon, cantaloupe, and bananas.
Also try some peaches, plums, and don't forget the slim fast. This is good to take off water weight. You will find that you don't have to sacrifice at all.
You can also eat traditional foods such as red meat, fish, poultry, and sandwich meat such as deli roast beef, cheese, and hamburger helper. Just don't over do it. Every time you go to eat, be conscientious and manually curve your appetite. You will also have to squeeze in a fifteen minute walk late in the evening when the sun's not so hot. Oh and don't forget the sweet and low to cut down on your sugar. A nice cola every now and then is fine or you may be "gung ho" and prefer diet drinks or ice tea.
If you're really over-weight, you might not feel you can lose that much weight, but eating healthy takes discipline and psychological training for it to work. You actually have to talk to yourself and reason out your hunger pains. A lot of times we feel hungry, but our tummies are just moving around a little. You may feel like you could eat a horse. That's the time you really need to discipline yourself and just eat a small portion of food.
You need a scientific food grouping chart. You can purchase one at your local bookstore.
This will tell you the sugar content of the food you eat. You can eat food with sugar in it or fat. Just don't over do it.
When you master the art of self discipline over your mind and stomach, you will find yourself going longer and longer and longer without wanting food. So the same goes for the holiday season especially. Just eat a little because you can always go back after awhile and get some more. Don't overeat. Just eat until you're comfortable.
The best way to curve your appetite during the holiday season is to get involved in other things and get your mind off food. Remember, discipline over your mind comes first. Then eliminate the sugar from your diet and that would be good if you're a diabetic like me. Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
