The media is blatantly biased in favor of Barack Obama, at the very least, in terms of covering his campaign. For example, it seems that every other story on CNN is somehow about him and/or his wife. It has only gotten worse since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination over rival Hillary Clinton, and John McCain gets comparatively little media time.

There are several clear reasons why we're experiencing a ridiculous Obama media blitz:

1) Obviously, Obama's Presidency run is historical. The media has uttered "historical" in relation to him many, many times. He is the first black person not only to win any party's nomination, but also the only black person to ever really have a chance of winning the Presidency.

2) His story is interesting. We hear all too much about how Obama is part-black and part-white, how his mother is from Kansas, how his far is African, how Obama graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first black editor of HLS's Law Review (and anyone who has attended law school, as I have, knows what a big deal Law Review is), how his stepfather and his half-sister are Asian, and so on. No other politician has a story quite like his, and I think we all know how the media loves to make martyrs, victims and villans, as well as sensationalize and beat to death anything they believe the public will find interesting.

3) The US is tired of hearing about racism. While some people are either truly well-meaning or really don't care that he's black, some would argue that being black is the most appealing thing about him. Why? They believe that his success in this election-and if he later gets elected-sends a message. Black people have repeatedly pointed out in their arguments about racism still existing that the US has never had a black President. That's one argument that, for whatever reason, a lot of people are attempting to make completely useless. Not only that, people from other nations view the US as racist. In short, electing Obama would make many people regardless of race feel better about themselves and about the country as far as race goes, and it might even help change the international image of the US for the better. I think the media is absolutely on board with this, especially when the top Republican candidate is someone who has not only opposed a Martin Luther King J.R. holiday but has also referred to Asians-regardless of his excuses-as "gooks." While I don't think the media nor anyone else would be anywhere near as excited if Obama were
