There are 3 main reasons for why you cannot drill in ANWR, or anywhere else.
1 We will still be dependent on oil, all this solution is doing is post-poning our oil crisis to another time. The goal of the US and many other countries should be to end our oil dependence, so that we can reproduce our oil, instead of trying to use finite natural resources such as oil.
2 Alaska may seem like it has time to have a bunch of oil companies industrialize their area for the sake of the world, but they don't. In fact Alaska has been doing more than needed to maintain their current state. They are doing more than other countries to prevent this, are we trying to commit mutiny to another one of our states? Are we really trying to invade canada's ear to commit more sins, and keep going with this insane addiction? Those are both rhetorical questions and the answers are no.
3 ANWR stands for Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge. WILDLIFE. Your drilling in an area that is rich in game for the hunter-gatherers and rich in oil. The deer, caribou, beavers, and etc. are going to get industrialized. Look at the US's transition from a lush country full of rivers and animals, to an industrialized area where pollution is more abundant than grass. Alaska is the only place that we can get our direly needed beef, pork, and other types of meat and other types of food necessary to sustain life. Drilling in ANWR upsets the natural cycle of animals.
The answer that I propose to this on-going problem is one that does not necessarily address the problem in the next 5 years or the next 10, but this is the only solution that can solve everything and all problems, current and upcoming. The answer is going against the need for greed.
As has been seen through the past, there are many problems that arise throughout societies' advancement, before it was the Great Depression, WWII, etc. That was the 1900 problems. Now for 2000's, its the oil crisis and terrorism, then the cycle will just continue to the other years while something else will arise that promises a problem to the current society. The answer solves everything by looking at the central cause.
Looking at the central cause is the only way to solve everything because our need for greed created these problems, here are a few examples:
1 Oil Crisis - created because more and more were in demand for it, while it is a finite source
2 Great Depression - People wanted more and more stocks so they kept taking, and that lead to a huge plummet.
The only way to solve this on-going problem is a way that will revolutionize the centuries to come and the centuries that have gone, this is the only way to solve all the problems in the world. Our need for greed must halt and heed.
