What is it?

Facebook is a social networking website that allows people to connect with those around them. Available features include the ability to share photos and videos and to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances. Facebook also allows people to learn more about each other.

How it works on the Iphone

Very similar to the original site but formatted specifically for the iphone, this site allows you to view your newsfeed, touch on over to your friends, and see how many messages are in your inbox.

By touching anyone of your friends from the friends tab, you can see their profile and check if there is any new info on their wall. The wall is where people can write short messages on a specific person's profile. On Facebook for the iphone, you can also write on somebody's wall by touch typing what you want to say and then pressing done.

You also have the choice to update your status wherever you are. I find this feature especially useful, as I can keep my friends up to date on where I am and what I am doing. This feature should have its limits, though, as your friends don't need to everything that you are doing

What you can't do

You may be thinking that Facebook for the iphone is an exact replica of the original site; however there are limits as to what you can do.

For example, you do not have the ability edit your profile on this site. You also cannot upload pictures or use any third party applications. If you want to do any of these things, you will have to go to the original Facebook website, which can be accessed by touching the link at the bottom of the screen. While the original Facebook site is less user-friendly, you will have a wider variety of options as to what is available to you.

The Bottom Line

Facebook for the iphone is a great way to keep up to date while you do not have access to a computer, or while you are out and about. With interface perfect for the iphone, this version of Facebook is easy and fun to use. While you can't edit your profile, upload photos, or use any third party applications, these are features that you can easily do without until you have the means to use them. With no price tag, Facebook for the iphone should be an application that everyone with an iphone should take advantage of.
